Today is day 22 of my challenge meaning I’ll only have 8 more days to go after today.

As of today (pre-swim) I have…

Swam 26.5 kms -that’s 1060 lengths
Spent aproximately 13 hours in the water
Bought and posed with 20 daily newspapers
Reached my initial fundraising target of $2400 with generous donations from friends, family and kind members of the public.

Still 9 swims to go – what to do with the rest of the time? …

How about I up the ante and make it from one earthquake epicentre to another?

That’s it! I’m going  to zoom past the outskirts of Christchurch and keep going until I reach the hills of Lyttelton – according to Google maps the co-ordinates for the quakes are as follows…

Earthquake number 1 – Saturday 4th September 2010 at 4.35am – 43.55°S, 172.17°E –  Nr Wards Road, Darfield, Nr Christchurch

Earthquake number 2 – Tuesday 22nd February 2011 at 12.51pm 43.60°S, 172.71°E – Dalleys Lane, Lyttelton, Christchurch

Total distance as the crow flies…44km!  That’s 2kms per day for the rest of the challenge – you’re on!

You can come cheer me over the finish line around 1030am on Tuesday 31st January at Pioneer Recreation Centre and I’ll be having a well deserved morning tea with my boys in the kids playground afterwards.

Anything raised by this extra leg of the challenge will go directly towards the aims and objectives of Shocking Pink – you can check them out here.

If you haven’t already donated you can do so here at

Much love and thanks xx
